Hey there! I'm Regan Chan — a developer, photographer, gamer, thinker, reader and dreamer. This is my home on the web.
My Life in a Nutshell
I've always been interested in computers since time immemorial. As a kid, I played classic games like Pac-Man and Space Invaders on an ancient box that didn't even have a hard drive. Well, my family eventually upgraded to a Packard Bell running Windows 95. I was introduced to the internet and then everything changed …
I'm a recent graduate of the University of Waterloo where I studied computer science (with a minor focus in business administration). My interests lie primarily in the applied aspects of the field such as human-computer interaction, computer graphics / vision, security and software engineering. At Waterloo, I was fortunate enough to be a part of initiatives like the co-op education system — where I got to experience working in various environments — and VeloCity — where I met a lot of fellow students and founders hacking away at cool new toys. These days I mainly focus on web development although I've been known to dabble in other areas such as the game industry.
When I'm not building awesome stuff, I pursue a number of hobbies to satisfy my creative side. As an amateur photographer, I enjoy taking shots of nature and architecture, with a bit of abstract stuff in between. Every now and then I'll pick up a fantasy novel and pour over it throughout several evenings. I'm also a hardcore gamer that primarily plays RPGs, with a few other titles on the side.
Oh yeah, I really, really love dragons. :)
